Definition of Motivation
What is the definition of motivation? Perhaps it is the desire to make a difference in this world. The mission to lead others to embrace a spiritual perspective about life. God asks you to share the many gifts He has given you, and that in itself is motivation to pursue His work. Remember the beatitudes?
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled." Matthew 5: 3- 6 This is where we all start; poor in spirit, in mourning, meek and thirsty. That is existing through life. But life has been given for you to live, to be comforted and filled so you can inherit the earth and own the kingdom of heaven. You are called to be motivated to serve, to lead by example, to let the light shine through you.
Paul Meyer of the Success Motivation Institute said, "Self-motivation is the power that raises you to any level you seek. It is impossible to motivate anyone else until you've learned to motivate yourself. "
Remember
Maslow's Hierarchy of needs?
As a human being you are first motivated by those needs that have not yet been met. So first you must be able to eat, have adequate supply of water and be able to sleep. Then you must feel safe. Safety today involves job security, financial reserves, and medical insurance besides a safe home. As much as you may not want to admit it you require friendship and a sense of belonging. You must be able to give love and receive it. Once these basics are provided for you can move on to becoming motivated toward self respect and the ability to give to others.Do not feel ashamed to focus on your needs first. Be healthy, become able to trust God to fulfill your needs. Then you can move on to accomplish the definition of motivation.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? " Matthew 6: 25He calls you to be motivated to behave as a child of God. To be loving and caring while living life full of sunlight in the darkness. The definition of motivation therefore is: that piece of you from within that brings energy and desire to live.
