Spiritual Gift InventoryYou can not begin to take your Spiritual Gift Inventory until you are in a thankful frame of mind. Read this carefully: Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. 
What are you thankful for today? Here in the United States we celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving can be celebrated by all of us, daily. If you have no coat, but have shoes on your feet, be thankful your feet are dry and protected. If it is cold, but you see the glint of the sun reflected in a tree trunk, be thankful for it's beauty. If you are blind, but can hear the musical laughter of children, be thankful for it's contagious nature.But before thinking about a spiritual gift inventory, is it possible to be thankful when you're struggling? It is the little things that change existence into life. It's knowing you are loved by one other human being. It is knowing you have a home to live in, seeing the fog blow away in the wind, hearing the call of a bird, and watching the sad face of a stranger brighten when you smile and say,"Good morning." In the spirit of thanksgiving you can begin your Spiritual Gift inventory. Saint Paul talked about spiritual gifts, both in Romans and in 1 Corinthians. In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul spoke of very specific gifts such as: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, the ability to recognize spirits, speaking in tongues, and the interpretation of tongues. In some Christian churches these specific gifts are openly celebrated and become part of the worship service. Not all people celebrate this way. Paul's letter to the Romans talks about a spiritual gift inventory of the Roman Church. He reminds them that each of us has been given a specific job assigned by God, and together these jobs make up the Church of Christ. Our passion and love for sharing of ourselves is a spiritual gift. 
As a nurse you make the lives of your patients a little better by working with God's love flowing through you. Perhaps you have the gift of communication. When you allow God to speak through you He is able to reach everyone you speak, write, or show the important information He has given you. Are you passionate for one of the arts, such as painting? The art you give is a gift from God.Through spending time each day in thanksgiving for the many blessings that have been given to you it is possible to take a spiritual gift inventory realizing these gifts are not you alone, nor are they about you.
