Words of Spiritual Encouragement
Words of spiritual encouragement are essential today. All around you the world seems to be on a path of self destruction. The environment is at a critical stage. Changes need to be made now or the destruction of the world as you know it will slip away because of your apathy.
The United States is so far in debt it seems impossible to hope for the future. In the state of Washington the unemployment rate continues to grow. The state is also in debt and the officials threaten to do away with the social structure that is the only salvation our poor, unemployed, disabled, and chronically ill have.
So where are "Words of Spiritual Encouragement" when the world is drowning in hopelessness?
If ever there is a time for faith and hope this is it. You see reality is important. Reality is not a pretty picture, but your faith can bring you through what you perceive now as darkness. When you choose faith you will become conscious of God and the miracles around you. Your focus becomes one of hope. You can turn to the Bible and your brothers and sisters in God for words of spiritual encouragement every day. That is your choice.
"Don't be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time." Matthew 6:34.
"Anything is possible if you have faith" Mark 9:23
"Then turning to his disciples he said, Don't worry about whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothes. Look at the ravens-they don't plant or harvest or have barns to store away their food, and yet they get along all right- for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!" Luke 12:22-24.
There is the grace of God and our hope. Jesus promised to take care of us, the faithful. And what does He ask in return?
"Love your neighbor as yourself....."
"I the Messiah, will publicly honor you in the presence of God's angels if you publicly acknowledge me here on earth as your Friend." Luke 12:8-9
Here are words of spiritual encouragement for you. Belief, hope, and faith are all you need to receive God's grace. You have been given the opportunity of grace many times. An opportunity for grace doesn't come with any obvious sign. It looks like an ordinary event. But within it is the chance to turn a sin, a choice of selfishness, a lie, or a decision that leads you away from God into a the choice to turn toward God. You have made choices and decisions that leave you regretting them and stressed. Decisions that were out of character and unloving. Your soul was telling you to stop. Very soon after you were offered an opportunity to make it right. Perhaps with consequences, perhaps with embarrassment. But look for these opportunities and accept them as the gift they are.
The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is a day to remember you are only human and your fate rests in God's hands. Then the forty days of Lent begin. The forty days of Lent represent the forty days that Jesus went into the hills to pray before He accepted His role as your Savior. He was tempted by evil again and again, always turning to God for his answers.
It is the custom for many to give up a pleasure for those forty days and/or add an act of faithfulness. Upon hearing that it was Ash Wednesday two young women dropped their food and were immediately grief stricken. They are devout Catholics and it is customary not to eat meat on that day. Listen to the following passage and their words of spiritual encouragement.
"All of you listen, he said, and try to understand. Your souls aren't harmed by what you eat, but by what you say!" Mark 7:14-16
This passage says much more than that. It says your earthly customs and practices are not what concern God. It is your actions and the example you show as a Christian that matters.
As a Christian in this world your challenge is to live your human life in faith and hope, taking care of the opportunities God puts in front of you. Look to God for words of spiritual encouragement. You will be blessed with miracle after miracle.
Live in Hope.
Know that you can trust in God, because He said so.
